Extra Credit

For extra credit, you may comment on one of the responses I wrote to you for Day One.

Day Two: 2nd Period: Poems

Today you will be sharing the poems you have brought to class.  Comment to this "Day Two" post to share your poem with the class.  Please remember to include the title and author of the poem as well as your name at the bottom of the post.

After you have posted the poem you brought in, you will choose someone else's poem and write a response to it.  Comment to this post when writing your response.  Include the name of the poem and poet to which you are responding.

Your written response  should be between 100-200 words.  It should contain a discussion of at least one poetic device, such as simile, metaphor, personification, analogy, symbolism, allusion, paradox, oxymoron, rhyme, alliteration, assonance, onomatopoeia, free verse, repetition, refrain, diction, or tone.

Day One

Welcome to our poetry blogger!  This site will be used to share poetry, poets, and responses with each other.  Today, you will be expected to respond to ONE post of your choice and to write ONE original post.  Be sure to include the name of the poem to which you are responding.  Also address the name of the person to whom you are responding if you are continuing an ongoing discussion.  If you are unsure what to write about, respond to the discussion questions listed before the poems. 

Each post should be between 50-100 words.  Your post should contain a discussion of at least one poetic device, such as simile, metaphor, personification, analogy, symbolism, allusion, paradox, oxymoron, rhyme, alliteration, assonance, onomatopoeia, free verse, repetition, refrain, diction, or tone.
